Pokémon Let’s Go Eevee
Recently, I started playing Pokemon Let’s Go Eevee.
The Art:
The sister game of Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu, Pokémon Let’s Go Eevee (PLGE) is almost an imitative gameplay of the original Pokémon game, Pokémon Yellow, taking place in the Kanto region. The only difference is that PLGE more high tech, the battles are actually animated for the first time (though not as completely as one would expect with the level of technology we’re at these days), and Pokémon are caught in a different manner than before.
Similar to the augmented reality game of Pokémon that came out in 2016 on smartphones, Pokémon Go, PLGE has a different way of catching pokemon than all the previous games that came before it (and there are a lot). The two GO games incorporate a new way of catching Pokémon that includes berries, which that do different things for the pokemon being caught, as well as a ring that indicates how difficult capturing this Pokeémon will be. Not only that, you no longer have to wander through the “tall grass” until a Pokémon randomly appears. Now, you can now see the Pokémon wandering through the grass, and easily avoid them or capture them through choice rather than chance. I haven’t gotten very far into the game yet, but overall it’s pretty fun, and I’m enjoying the way they’ve set up the new capture/ battle system.
The Artist:
Created Fusajiro Yamauchi in 1889, Pokemon originally sold playing cards. it went through a variety of iterations, selling different products and being a part of different industries, before it eventually settled on video gaming. It’s first real success came in 1985, with the release of the still popular NES system (I say still popular because last year they re-released it and it was sold out practically everywhere). They’ve created popular game franchises including Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong, Pokémon, and more. They’ve even capitalized on their own successful characters by creating games like Super Smash Bros where all of their original characters battle it out, or like Mario Tennis or Mario Party, where their characters just play baseball or a bunch of minigames. Their newest platform is Nintendo Switch, the platform PLGE is played on.
